TRIBUTE TO VINYL – INTERACTIVE SETUP INTO A MUSEUM

February 2012 > June 2012 - Graduation project with Simon Villot

ARTISTIC DIRECTION – UX & UI DESIGN

Creation of multimedia support to fit with a museum display. Nowadays, CD and DVD and other recording medium, are vanishing . They give up place to invisible computer files.
Music exists mainly through the untouchable and so handling, and affective links to the support itself are gone. Without any advices about technical informations, the Viny’lab’s aim is to value the object in emotional and sensory way.

THE INSTALLATION TAKES PLACE IN A ROOM APPEARING LIKE AN EXPERIMENTAL LABORATORY After having chose a vinyl disc, the public will be invited to manipulate the object and create his own vinyl sleeve.

The user will move the vinyl record and use touch screens from pole to pole in order to understand aspects of the object. Finally, the user will be able to buy the vinyl disc, share the sleeve on social networks and upload it on a collective space dedicated to those sleeves. Mix between a material object and a digital experience for the user thanks to the Arduino.

  • Bring a digital side to a tangible object.
  • Making prototypes and user tests.
  • Thinking about a wide user experience.
  • Picture a place and imagine an easy adaptable Set up.
  • Scenography working.

COME DISCOVER OR REDISCOVER THE VINYL DISC,
A TRUE MUSICAL OBJECT, BY TOUCHING AND HANDLING IT IN THE VINY’LAB

THE VINYL DISC IS MUCH MORE THAN A MATERIAL MEDIA, WE SEIZE IT, WE PERSONIFY IT, WE LOVE IT.

Adding value to the object in an emotional and sensory way Reclaiming of the object Discovering/rediscovering feelings Awareness of the musical object
